I am having trouble with the online application. Who do I contact?

When will the application be available?
November 12, 2018.
When is the deadline for submitting applications?
The online application and all supplemental materials are due Wednesday, JANUARY 30, 2019, at 11:59 pm PST.
I missed the deadline. Can I still apply?
Due to the large number of applicants, no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Is there a fee to apply?
I am a home-schooled student. Can I apply?
Is there an age limit?
You must be a current high school junior.
Is there a minimum SAT or ACT score requirement?
What if my SAT or ACT score changes after I submit my application? Should I update you on my scores?
No. The scores you submit on or before Wednesday, January 30, 2019 are sufficient.
Is there a minimum grade point average requirement?
Yes. All applicants must have and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Where do I find my family’s adjusted gross income?
If your family completed a 1040 tax return for 2017, you can find this amount on line 37. FAFSA has a great article about locating your gross adjusted income.
I am having trouble uploading a video for the “Big Picture” portion of the application. It says invalid file type — what do I do?
Please upload your video to Google Drive (or other cloud service) and upload the link to the video on a Word document. Make sure the permissions are set in a way that anyone with the link can view it. That way, our judges can access it.
Do I have to be a United States citizen to apply for a scholarship?
No. We welcome applicants who reside in the United States, regardless of citizenship status.
I live outside of the United States, can I apply?
Unfortunately, you must reside in the United States to apply.
Is there an income limit?
The Hamilton Award is given to students that have demonstrated financial need. Your household's adjusted gross income should be LESS than $100,000 a year.
Can I use the Alexander Hamilton Award money at any college and for any major?
Sure! There are no restrictions for what the scholarship can be used for, though we advise Scholars to use the money to defray the cost of college applications, school visits, college-related fees, etc.
Is the Alexander Hamilton Award a renewable award and what is the amount of the award?
The AHS scholarship amount of $500 is a one-time cash award. However, scholars are also admitted into the five-year Alexander Hamilton Scholars Empowerment Program.

Do I have to participate in the New York Leader Week in New York City, NY July 13-18, 2019?
Yes. This is an all-expenses paid, no-cost to the student trip that is compulsory to the program.
What if I can’t make it to the New York Leader Week in July? Am I ineligible?
Unfortunately, you would be ineligible for the Hamilton Scholars Award.
